Milk Soup with Star Pasta / Pieniška žvaigdučių sriuba

Milk soup with star pasta – it’s one of my favorite childhood dishes 🙂 My grandmother used to make this soup very often. I used to add some sugar to my soup and grandmother – some salt. Instead of star pasta sometimes she used pasta shaped in little letters. And I would say it was quite interesting to find those little letters in your soup…

After reading the recipe you may have a question – why I haven’t provided an exact amount of milk in the recipe. I like to pour as much milk as I want to, that’s why in my recipe I only give the approximate amount of milk – depending on how much everyone wants to pour milk in their soup. You can add milk at the end of the cooking as well. If you want, you can use any smaller pasta to make this milk soup, so use your favorite one!

Enjoy your meal! 😉

Milky Soup with Star Pasta / Pieniška žvaigždučių sriuba

{4 servings}

Ingredients:

2 cups water

200 g (7 oz) small star pasta

2-4 cups milk

salt

Preparation:

  1. Pour water into the pot, bring it to boil. Add pasta and boil it for ~10-12 minutes until it softens, add a little salt. Then turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid and leave for a few minutes that the pasta would swell.
  2. Pour pasta into bowls, pour the desired amount of milk and enjoy! If you need – add salt or sugar.

>> The soup is very tasty either it’s sweet or a bit salty.

Skanaus! 😉

{4 porcijos}

Reikės:

0,5 l vandens

200 g žvaigždutės formos makaronų

0,5 – 1 l pieno

druskos

Gaminimas:

  1. Vandenį supilame į puodą, užverdame. Po to suberiame makaronus ir verdame ~10-12 min, kol makaronai suminkštėja, pagardiname druska. Išjungiame ugnį, uždengiame puodą ir paliekame makaronus kelias minutes šiek tiek išbrinkti.
  2. Makaronus sudedame į dubenėlius, užpilame norimu kiekiu pieno ir skanaujame! Jei reikia papildomai įsidedame druskos arba cukraus.

>> Sriuba labai skani tiek saldi, tiek sūresnė.

    This was my favorite comfort food when I was little! I still make it for myself if I’m feeling really down or stressed out sometimes!! My mother called it ‘milk noodles’ and she usually just used elbow macaroni. I like it with a lot of butter and some freshly cracked black pepper on top!! Nobody I know has ever heard of this recipe and they think I’m crazy – thank you for posting so I can show them it is a real recipe!! 😀

      Haha, really?? It’s very popular thing in Lithuania, especially for little kids. I used to love this soup! My mom still makes it from time to time, but my grandmas used to make it at least once per week 🙂 So, don’t worry, you are definitely not alone here! 😀 😉
